Weekend Warrior: September Edition (kind of)

Alright, where did the nice rainy(ish) weather go? It’s almost the end of September and it’s hot (not like anyone in OKC will let it slow them down). As we wind down the summer, here are some notable events worth checking out.

Friday, September 23rd
Still kicking yourself for missing the Matisse exhibit? Good art doesn’t last forever and neither will Shakespeare in the Park’s Romeo and Juliet at Myriad Gardens. Star-crossed lovers or just immature millennials? Grab tickets and decide for yourself, but this is the final weekend.

Saturday, September 24th
There is something exceptionally cool happening at the Plaza District Festival this year (and not just “cool” in the hipster kind of way). The Plaza Walls will be hosting OKC’s first ever mural expo, featuring 20 artists and 20 murals that will be painted live during the festival. If you have any appreciation for local anything, you’ll be there. And if not, hit up the annual Turkish Festival.

Friday, September 30th
Vanessa House Beer Co. is coming to market. we repeat, Vanessa House is coming to market. We love VHBC and we think you should too. Join them at Slaughter’s Hall from 6-9 p.m. to drink some beer, meet some people, and eat awesome sandwiches. One dollar of every sandwich goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the first 75 people in will get a Vanessa House pint glass!

Saturday, October 1st
After you’ve partied it up with VHBC, get yourself to the last Industry Flea of the year. And then, as if you needed an excuse to keep drinking on a Saturday, go to OKCtoberfest at the Farmer’s Market (tickets are $7 in advance, $10 on the day of the event). The Flea starts at 9 a.m. and transitions nicely into a 2 p.m. start time at OKCtoberfest. On your way there or after you’ve tipped a few, head to the river for the annual Oklahoma Regatta Festival
