Blow It Up

Oklahomans love it when the fourth comes after the weekend because we were going to be drinking all weekend anyway. If you want to make the most of the long weekend, here are some ideas to consider:

Friday, July 1st:
Go check out the new public art, both the non-controversial (Steven Adams) and the controversial (Charlie Christian, et al). Cool off with the always-free modern art museum at Hotel 21c and then grab a drink at Mary Eddy’s.

Saturday, July 2nd:
Urban Farmhouse Designs
Farm + Food + Fashion, 10 am – 6 pm:
We’re pretty good at the first two and getting better quickly at the third. Come support local industry while they support the things you love. Bonus: snow cones.

After you’ve shopped, drop in to take the brewery tour of Anthem Brewing that you keep meaning to do on the weekend. It’s free and a tour runs at 2 pm and 4 pm. Maybe if you’re lucky you can try their new OK Pils that released this week.

The Energy FC host Rio Grande FC at 7:30 pm at Taft Stadium and nothing goes better with freedom than soccer and the Upper 90 Pale Ale from Anthem. Also, fireworks.

 Uptown 23rd Farmer's Market

Sunday, July 3rd:
Uptown 23rd Farmers Market, starts at 9 am:
Stock up on corn and watermelon for the big freedom fest at your favorite neighborhood market. If this doesn’t do it for you, try the blueberry sausage at Pump Bar while nursing a bucket of mimosas.

 Dodger's game

Dodger’s game

Monday, July 4th:
OKC Dodgers Game, 7:30 pm:
If baseball is your thing, you’re already sold. If not, just remember that this game features fireworks! If you really can’t stand rooting for the home team, stand on the Mickey Mantle bridge between the Aloft Hotel and Mantel’s Steakhouse and watch it there. O Bar would also probably offer a great view… and alcohol.
