Time Flies.

It's officially fall. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean it's sweater weather or bon fire season because it still feels like summer in OKC, but it does mean that we're embarking on the next chapter of growth for the city.

Here are some things we are looking forward to in the upcoming months:

Stonecloud Brewing

Okay, okay. We've been talking about the Sunshine Laundry building for a while now. It's an incredible building that has a new life thanks to our favorite developers. Now, it's time to talk about what's going inside the building.

First National Beauty

If you haven't noticed, we really enjoy stalking inanimate objects, particularly old buildings. When we had the chance to go INSIDE of the First National Building during the open house a few weeks ago, we absolutely fawned over the details and history within the building and excitedly imagined the next chapter of this beauty under Gary Brooks' ownership.

Sunshine Laundry

In our grandfather's age, the work was to tear down the OKC metro for a city in the sky that never happened. Today, despite mother nature, the work is to save the city and it's historic and important spaces.

OKC is weird.

There are certain boxes that a city has to check when you're looking for a place to build a life and a home. For us, the box that makes Oklahoma City stand out, the box that is absolutely unique to this town is the people. We have creators, innovators, movers and shakers and the irreplaceable quality that marks them all is how much they care about this city.

Wow, it's been a busy few months. This time last year we bought a house in Jefferson Park and spent every ounce of our free time investing into our new home. This year, we've spent all our time investing into our community. Between organizing Uptown Uncorked and attending every school closure meeting we could, the blog has been a little ignored.

Work it

Last week, As Told By: OKC was invited to try Halcyon Works, the new co-working space in the Paseo dreamed up by the team of Erin Cooper, Tim Cooper,  John Handy Edwards and Sarah Brune Edwards. The space is designed as a common ground work space for individuals and entrepreneurs who need workspace beyond their kitchen tables.

We Wanna Go To Iguana

Restaurants can have a second life, but it doesn’t happen over a weekend like the shows you see on Food Network. With the guidance of Operating Manager and chef Marc Dunham and stylist Sara Kate, Iguana Mexican Grill on 9th Street is revamped, renovated and refreshed.

Bunker Club Nearing Completion

It's almost Bunker Club time and other than the will-they, won't-they, Tower Theatre, this is the biggest waiting game in town. Long story short: they're not ready to be open yet, but they're working on it.

Vanessa House 5th Keg

We love to burn the midnight oil, a task usually fueled by beer. So when Andrew Carrales from Vanessa House Beer Co. stopped by our home to drop off a 4-pack of their new beer, 5th Keg Brown Ale, we were more than thrilled.

Ten Tips for Small Business Social Media

On the public-facing side, As Told By: OKC has grown our own social media following and presence over the last two years. On the private-facing side we have executed and consulted on social media for small businesses in the OKC. Along the way we have picked up a few social media tips and tricks that we think will help you curate the relationship between your your business and your customers. With that in mind, here are ten things to be aware of if you're a small business in OKC doing your own social media.

Last night, the local chapter of AIGA (The American Institute for Graphic Arts), gathered ten clever people from OKC to share their creative highlights from 2016. DC on Film Row overflowed with creativity, inspiration, humor and people, so many people.

If you really want to experience the heart of a city, find out where its people like to go. Get past the chains and the billboard advertising and find the locals. When we travel, everyone loves to explore, but when was the last time you got out of your car and explored OKC?

So This is the New Year

As everyone does at the passing of a year, we've been considering what 2017 means for us. Last year brought As Told By: OKC more than we could have imagined.

Chick-N-Beer Opens Today!

While you might not be sold on kimchi (yet), we can all agree that chicken wings and beer are two of the best things in life. Lucky for those of us who love kimchi AND beer AND wings, Chick-N-Beer opens today at 6 p.m. in Uptown 23rd.
